Philips Shield HTC34
Philips is a multinational with sales offices in more than 60 countries and approx. 150 factories all over the world. The various divisions report to the head office in the Netherlands.
Armada Janse realises for decades the illuminated Philips logo’s and wayfinding’s for several locations in The Netherlands and Europe. This time Armada Janse obtained the order to develop a working prototype of the recent new shaped Philips image.
This challenge included the installation of this creative light object on one of the highest buildings at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (HTC34). One striking Philips shield which has a surface of including the back panel 28 m2! Using a special foil solution, this shield had during day a blue colour and by night, as soon as the internal led illumination is turned on, the logo emits a white light.
Especially indirectly illuminated
This shield is installed on distance holders on white back plating, so that the RGB led illumination, which is installed on the backside of this open logo, indirectly illuminates the back plating (mostly in Philips blue). This way of illumination gives the impression of a floating logo which lies totally free causing this special Ambilight like light object. The final result is an astonishing landmark that perfectly fits into the list of well-known Philips illuminated advertising in Eindhoven such as like the ones on the ‘Witte Dame’ and the ‘Klokgebouw’ at Strijp S.
